About Huanggang Normal University

Founded in 1905 as Huangzhou Prefecture Normal School, Huanggang Normal University (HGNU) is a well-established public undergraduate university in Hubei Province, China. Guided by the motto “Virtue, Erudition, Practice, and Aspiration”, it has over 20,000 students (including postgraduates and international learners) across four campuses. With 72 undergraduate programs and 3 master’s degree categories, HGNU is a comprehensive institution with strengths in education, humanities, and applied sciences, with two disciplines (Chemistry and Engineering) ranked in the top 1% of ESI globally.

International Exchange: Global Educational Connections

HGNU prioritizes internationalization, expanding global educational and cultural cooperation. A key collaboration is the joint Confucius Institute with Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, which promotes Chinese language and cross-cultural dialogue between China and South Asia. The university also conducts student exchanges, joint research, and academic workshops. International students on campus further enrich the multicultural atmosphere, supporting its goal of preparing students for global engagement.
Foreign Faculty: Supported Educational Partners

HGNU emphasizes recruiting and supporting foreign teachers, with a flexible recruitment system covering visiting professors, specialists, and full-time educators. For full-time English teachers (like the current openings), it offers competitive benefits: 10,000 RMB monthly salary and free accommodation. Comprehensive support—from teaching resources to logistics—helps foreign faculty integrate smoothly.
Foreign teachers mainly teach in the School of Foreign Languages, delivering oral English and specialized courses for English majors. Their expertise strengthens students’ language skills and broadens global perspectives, aligned with HGNU’s mission to foster globally competent graduates.

A Welcoming Hub for Global Collaboration

As HGNU works toward becoming a distinctive, high-level university, international exchange and foreign faculty development remain core to its strategy. Its long history, solid academic foundation, and commitment to multiculturalism make it an ideal destination for educators focused on impactful teaching and cross-cultural exchange.
